Accounts Missing From WHM

Hello everyone,

I wanted to bring to your attention a concerning issue that I have been experiencing with cPanel recently. It appears that some of my accounts have gone missing from WHM and are not accessible anymore. When I tried to create a new cPanel account with one of the domains that were missing, it shows the error message "domain already exists".

This issue has caused a lot of inconvenience for me and my clients, as we are unable to access important data and files stored on these accounts.

I am hoping that someone in the community has experienced a similar issue and can provide some guidance on how to resolve this problem. I have already tried restoring backups, checking DNS settings, and verifying domain ownership, but nothing seems to be working.

Hey there! Can you provide me with a bit more details on exactly what you're experiencing? When you say the accounts are missing from WHM, do you mean they do not show up in WHM >> List Accounts? You also said they are "not accessible" - does the site not load at all?

If so, do you see entries for the domain in the server's main Apache configuration file (/etc/apache2/conf/httpd.conf)?

The only time I've seen this is if you have a reserved username. You can't create an account with these usernames any longer, but if you have old accounts with any of these names, it messes things up.

I am facing an issue that some of the websites hosted on my cPanel account are accessible to the public, but when I try to access these accounts from my server, I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Additionally, when I try to access my cPanel account, which is also missing, it loads but shows the local host IP in place of the shared IP.

I have tried looking for these accounts in WHM, but I am unable to locate them. I have also checked the DNS settings for the affected domains, and they appear to be pointing to the correct IP address.

I am not sure why this is happening or how to fix it. I would appreciate any guidance or advice on how to locate these missing accounts and why my cPanel account is showing the local host IP.

I think the easiest way to find the accounts would be to try and run the following command:

/scripts/whoowns domain.com

That will tell you which cPanel account owns the domain in question. If this is an addon domain underneath another cPanel account, it will tell you that and you'll know who owns it instantly.

I would check the system for a NAT configuration to see if that is related to the localhost address, with this command:

cat /var/cpanel/cpnat
