Auto mount backup location on restoration

I'm using "Mount Backup Drive as Needed", but when I want to do a restoration in WHM, the drive isn't automatically mounted. I need to manually mount the drive to proceed.

I think this is a case where the drive should be automatically mounted, since it's needed for restoration. Also, when the clients enter their backup section on cPanel accounts, because of this, they have the impression that no backups are being made.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hello @Netcrusher,

Could you open a support ticket so we can take a closer look at how your backup drive is mounted, and at your backup logs? You can post the ticket number here once it's opened and I'll link this thread to it.

Thank you.

Backups are running fine, they mount and unmount the drive correctly. I’m talking about restoration, not backing up.

Considering normal behavior, should WHM automatically mount the backup drive when the backup restoration section is accessed?

Hello @Netcrusher,

Thanks for clarifying. The Mount Backup Drive as Needed option in WHM >> Backup Configuration is applicable to the backup process only. It's not applicable to the restore process, and no functionality currently exists to automatically mount a drive prior to a restore action.

I recommend creating a feature request for this functionality via our feature request website. Here's the format we recommend using when creating a feature request to ensure your feedback gets as much visibility as possible and translates into actionable work:

As a {cPanel User, System Administrator, web-hosting provider, or any other user perspective}, I would like {the feature that is being requested} so that {benefit that the request adds to the product}.
Feel free to respond here with a link to the feature request upon approval, or let me know if you have any questions about how to format the request.

Thank you.

I tried opening a feature request, but I'm getting the following error on posting the new topic:

Hello @Netcrusher,

There was an issue with the feature request website's software. This was fixed and you should now be able to submit the request. Let me know of any additional issues.

Thanks!

@cPanelMichael, There has been some evolution on this functionality ?
I also use the backup via NFS and I use the "Mount Backup Drive as Needed" option and in the restoration I need to manually mount it and then go to WHM.

Let me know if a feature request was created so I can vote and follow up...
