AutoSSL check cron not available?

The AutoSSL cron job is not there even though AutoSSL is reported as enabled. I find I have to disable AutoSSL and re-enable which creates:

/etc/cron.d/cpanel_autossl

...which contains the needed AutoSSL check cron.

I tried running /scripts/upcp and it did not add the cron job as I expected it may have.

This is happening on newly provisioned servers. I am wondering if this is an issue on our end or a cPanel issue or am I missing something?

Hello @Nicholas West,

The following case was published as part of cPanel & WHM version 76:

Fixed case CPANEL-20684: Overwrite empty cPanel AutoSSL provider cron.d files.

Can you verify which cPanel & WHM version you are installing on the newly provisioned servers? Also, are you using the traditional installation steps to install cPanel & WHM, or are you using a pre-built image?

Thank you.

74.0.4 is being installed on new servers using pre-built images. I would have thought updating to the latest version of cPanel using /scripts/upcp would place the AutoSSL cron there.

To clarify, are you stating the issue continues to occur after updating these servers from version 74 to version 78?

Are you also able to update the pre-built image to use cPanel & WHM version 78 to see if the issue persists?

Thank you.

The issue continues to occur after updating from version 74 to 78. I will have to get back to you regarding using a different pre-built image.

Hello @Nicholas West,

Feel free to open a support ticket and we can take a closer look at one of the affected systems to see why the empty file is not populated automatically. You can post the ticket number here and we'll link this thread to it.

Thank you.
