This is a strange one. It all started with me being unable to add any add-on domains. I figured out that I hadn't opened port 43 for WHOIS (which checks domain nameservers) on one of my firewalls. It's now open. I have a large portfolio of domain names I host for myself, mostly all UK domains (.co.uk/.uk). I'm currently stuck being unable to add any .CO.UK domain names into add-on domains with the following error:

(XID 79zt9e) Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

Which is weird, because if I add one with a .UK extension, it adds just fine. Are there any known issues regarding this WHOIS module? Anybody else experiencing the same thing?

Have you try to Allow Remote Domains

@kadrin I don't really want to do that, it's a massive risk and cPanel themselves don't even recommend doing it. I run my own nameservers from within WHM and a cluster of DNS On;y servers. Why would I want to turn on remote domains? Thanks for your suggestion though :)

Hello @inteldigital

Do the co.uk and .uk domains have the same nameservers assigned to them? If so, do they only exist in the DNS cluster?
Hi @cPanelLauren ,

Both domains have the nameservers and both have zone records that are synchronised across two servers. I tested this with multiple .co.uk domains and none of them worked. However testing with multiple .uk domains allowed me to add them all! It's a strange one.

Hi @inteldigital

No, not geolocation, meaning how are they configured. Are they configured on the primary webserver or do they only exist in the DNS entries located on the nameservers?
