Hello Community.
I have just posted feature-request about it - but I really would like to ask you - how do you feel about new DNS zone editor?
We find it really hard to use, especially for large zones or zones, where we have to edit a lot. It looks fancy, but for old geek - it is too modern and requires way more clicking and editing records one by one.

Is there any option for us to ask cPanel to bring old editor back?

All right - I will list difficulties, that we face.
1. more clicks to do when we want to edit multiple records;
2. for big zones - I personally miss the fact, that there might be several pages. It would be awesome to have all records on one page; (yes, i know there is filter field and it works across pages.. hm.. technically i should not complain about pages, but get used to new script)
3. email routing configuration is elsewhere - it would be awesome to have it along the DNS zone;

+ it would be awesome to have option to mark multiple records, that we would like to delete
+ it would be awesome to filter/search also by content (for example if I am searching for IP and want to see all records, that point there)

offtopic and thoughts: Obviously I created this topic on the same day, when new API functions were presented and from what I can conclude - i will need to focus on improving our own DNS zone manager in our internal system to utilize API more.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I know the number of clicks has been mentioned before, but if you are on version 96 that is resolved. I've attached a screenshot from my personal machine showing multiple areas being edited at once:

There is also the "save all records" button at the top of the page so you don't have to save each record individually.

I do we see start paginating the records if there are more than 50 lines in the zone file. I'm guessing there is a speed or performance issue of trying to pull them all in at once for very VERY long zones (some people with odd addon domain configurations can easily have 2000+ lines in a zone file, or more) so I get why they did it. Most users might not notice, but how about this - a feature request request to control the number of lines displayed per page? Would that help?

For the email routing, I definitely got used to it being on that page for sure, but I can see why they moved it. It's not really related to the DNS configuration at all, so keeping that area strictly related to DNS data ultimately provides a better experience. We just have to adapt to that one, and it still trips me up every time too. It's kind of like WHM >> Tweak Settings - ideally, that page shouldn't really exist - it's a catch-all for stuff that doesn't always have a good home of its own, so we put it there.

Let me know if you wanted me to do that feature request for you on my end and I'd be happy to.

Sorry for delay with the answer - I had to think a bit and hopefully give more indications and suggestions.

1. editing multiple rows. Well - I really had to look up for that "save all" button. If I can suggest - clicking "save record" should save that record and do some nice ajax job reloading that row, instead of reloading whole page.

2. Deleting multiple rows is a pain. Page reloads, scrolling goes to top - this should be done through checkboxes or using neat ajax thing to make row disappear on delete, so we could click on several.. But a checkbox to select and delete-selected would be awesome.

3. Adding new records.. just a matter of me, but would be awesome to have "add record" button on the bottom.. We kinda often scroll through records, to inspect those, that exist and end up at the end of the page. Before we had empty input boxes there.. Would be neat to have "add record" there as well.

Paginating and email routing - well, guess these things we could get used to in a new way...

I'd like the old one back too. I could do so much more and so much more quickly. The new one should have been fully tested and reviewed before the old one removed. Now I'm paying for a piece of software that does not do all I need it to do.

I get a 401 error to vote on this feature request. As mentioned previously, the biggest issue is how much longer it takes to edit DNS records with the new interface. And I would disagree with separating the MX record to another location to edit, it is a DNS entry. Part of troubleshooting DNS problems is seeing the comprehensive list of DNS entries in a quick & easy way. We had that before in the prior interface.
