Hi,

So, I had setup domain forwarder from example1.com to example2.com
There was one expired autoresponder on example1.com domain ([email protected]) and when email was send to that email address, it was "delivered" to autoresponder and it wasn't forwarded to example2.com domain ([email protected]).

How is that? Autoresponder was expired two years ago (stop time was in 2016) and still mail was delivered to autoresponder and not domain forwarder?

Is this normal behaviour or bug?

Thank you.

Kind regards.

Hello @manifesthost,

Internal case CPANEL-17918 is open to address an issue where domain forwarders are not detecting the expired state of autoresponders and thus the email is not forwarded. I'll monitor this case and update this thread with more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, the temporary workaround is to delete the expired autoresponder.

Thank you.

Thank you. Just want to inform you that I've manage to replicate this again on our server.
1. I have account on cPanel v72, with 2 add on domains - example1.com and example2.com
2. On example1.com I don't' have any email accounts and on example2.com I've created one email account [email protected]
3. I've setup domain forwarder from example1.com to example2.com
4. I've added autoresponder on [email protected] to expire today at 3pm.
5. On 4pm, I've send email to [email protected]
6. I didn't receive any auto-respond from [email protected] but email wasn't forwarded to [email protected]
7. On Mail Delivery Reports in WHM I can see this:
Recipient: [email protected]
Delivered To: |/usr/local/cpanel/bin/autorespond [email protected] /home/user/.autorespond
Delivery User: -system-

If that will help you somehow.

Yes, I've deleted autoresponder and that did help, but however, all emails sent before are lost I'm afraid :-/

Thank you.
Kind regards.

Hello @manifesthost,

Thank you for the additional information. I can confirm the issue you reproduced is the same issue reported as part of internal case CPANEL-17918.

Thank you.

Hello

i´m having a weird issue.
We setup a new autoresponder in one domain. the email is already created as pop3, and now as autoresponder.
When we test it, the message arrives to the email (pop3) perfectly. but the autoresponderis never sent.

I´ve check theexim log and apparently is not there.

Any clue?

Regards
Fabian

Hello Fabian,

Can you share the specific steps you used to search /var/log/exim_mainlog? Note we have a guide with information on using the exigrep utility at:

Additionally, can you share a screenshot of how the Autoresponder is configured in cPanel?

Thank you.

Hello Michael

Thanks for your answer... i´ve already fixed it.
Apparently, the problem was the email account that my client wanted to add an autoresponder, had a forwarder created and that´s why not worked the autoresponder.
Weird, but when we deleted the forwarder, the autoresponder works perfect.

Regards
Fabian

I moved your post into this thread as it seems to relate to the case referenced here.

Thank you.
