We're running LTS on several of our servers (because of client requirements). When a new release came out we could search the upcp log and look for the "Blocker" message. It used to say that it was blocked to distribute the update over several days and then give us the date that it would actually apply. We could ssh into all the servers and get a list of the date that it would apply the various servers. With the V94 LTS update that date is no longer there. We're not going to have to log into the servers every day to check if it got the V94 release.

We need to log into the servers after the new release is installed to set the new features (from the feature showcase) the way that we want them.

This definitely seems like a big step backwards.

Yes, I can put in a feature request, but it just seems silly that cPanel keeps removing useful things (emailing the upcp logs, now removing the date, etc.etc.)

My 2 cents

Happy to hear it's a issue (until you talk to the developers and they tell you why they removed it ;))

From last nights log:

Code:
[2021-03-31 00:50:05 -0500] E Blocker found: Upgrade to the next 11.94 build is blocked in order to gradually distribute upgrades over multiple days. If you wish to upgrade now, you can do so by executing ‘/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp --force’ via SSH or ‘WHM → Home → Server Configuration → Terminal’
[2021-03-31 00:50:05 -0500] W An attempt to upgrade to 11.94.0.4 was blocked. Please review blockers.
[2021-03-31 00:50:05 -0500] E The install encountered a fatal error: An attempt to upgrade to 11.94.0.4 was blocked. Please review blockers.
I don't see any dates in the log related to the deferral.

Cool - I just wanted to ensure the date was actually there on your system. I'll let you know when I hear back from the dev team on their thoughts. It seems odd to not just show it like we used to, especially if it's right there on the box.

So I got a pretty quick reply on this one - it turns out this was removed on purpose because...the dates weren't always accurate! There was an issue where the logic that pulled the dates could give the wrong information to the user, causing additional confusion, so they decided to remove the date from the log output. I've asked if they do plan to resolve that and add it back, but haven't heard back on that just yet.

We had noticed in the past that the dates were not accurate, but it would never update before the given date. It is important (at least for us) to know the dates so we can log into WHM and set the new features the way we want them.

I just wanted to provide an update that as of right now, they are discussing a good way to add this back in that won't give people the wrong date and cause confusion. I'm not sure exactly when that will be or what the final decision will be, but just wanted to make it public that it's being talked about.
