We've mentioned before how maintaining two different interfaces just isn't practical, and the plan for the future is to move forward with Jupiter and to deprecate Paper Lantern
There's an easier way: kill Jupiter and keep Paper Lantern. Unless there are real reasons for the change, but it seems they don't stand up to scrutiny.

It's starting to sound like one of those whimsical decisions made from "higher up" that you have no choice but to implement, no matter the resistance from customers or even from inside the company. That's a shame, really...

Hi !

I think the icons are only available at WHM level rather than CPanel account level.
According to the documentation, Jupiter should have icons as well :

I'm not seeing them on our updated (version 102) servers as well. But I see the browser trying to load them and the server responding with a "401 Invalid Token" error.

Do you also see failed requests in the developer tools (network) ?
Something like: https://your.server.com:2083/cPanel...jupiter/styles/remixicon.woff?t=XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Kind regards,
Florian

I've used Cpanel for over a decade and this is the first time I've considered changing my host. You guys say you want to make it easier, but right now it's harder for me. The old interface was already easy, that's why I picked Cpanel over the others, because it was the easiest and cleanest out there. Personally I feel like this new theme is going backwards. Maybe a few fixes could make it stronger?

  • Jupiter only uses 1/3 of my screen. I can't believe it's aligned left, at least make it centered, but seriously, why not make it stretch to full screen? That just doesn't make any sense to put it aligned left!
  • These colors and font combination make it difficult to read. There is no color separation and everything bleeds together. The new icons help a little, but there is just too much text on the screen and not enough separation.
  • Why would you remove the search on the top left and leave only the search on the far right side of the screen? Now every time I search I've got to move the cursor all the way across the screen to search, what a waste of time, especially for people with larger screens and higher resolution.
I have to admit that at first I was very angry, and wrote a completely different post, but as I went back to gather information about the theme I realized that it's not entirely bad, just needs some tweaks. Overall I am happy with Cpanel, but this theme got me in my feelings. I really hope you guys are hearing this and are able to update the theme to a more usable state!

Thanks for listening.

I blasted them on the private "Tell us what you think..." for the same points.

I don't get what you mean about 1/3 of screen, though. Mine makes use of full width. Screenshot?

Colors and UI... Yes! SO hard to navigate visually!

Moving the search, and how it works is a pain! It DOES give more info that the old one, which I like. BUT, has anyone else noticed that many of the results have NO connection to the search term?

Sorry, that was for cpanel client side. WHM does use full screen on the home page. My resolution is 3440x1440. I guess technically it's more like 1/2 of the page, but I'm really talking about the important part which is the middle section.

Right off the bat I search for "Calendar" and get a bunch of results, none of which reference anything to do with a calendar and none of them are for the "Contacts & Calendar Plugin" which is what I was searching for.

Ok, I get it now. Yeah, no need for max-width IMO.

Regarding search: Glad it's not just me! lol I hope cPanel is following this, because the search result issue needs to be fixed (AND moved to the left side :) ).

I really think that maybe the community or someone who is an expert can recreate the theme pappern, the truth is that everything is very strange as it was, it was much more understandable, now cpanel looks really horrible... :(

My Server host has been begging us to move to InterWorx Unlimited Control Panel, I have been fighting it, but I may have a look now. This is so sad......

Where was the consultation and testing? For such a dramatic interface change there should have been a preview phase and an option to switch back. This new UI is terrible, really, really terrible in comparison to what it replaced. All bland, plain, the same, and nothing differentiated from anything else.

Please be brave and bring back the old UI - then test the new UI and work through the feedback before forcing it on everyone.

@cPRex Can we get some dialogue going with devs on this? I can definitely see what others are saying about non-distinctiveness visually. The cPanel interface is "ok," though it could be better/more appealing, but the WHM interface is not ok! WHM colors (really, just shades of black) are hard to navigate on the left side-bar and the lack of indentation causes mis-click way too often. The right pane is mostly unchanged (good) but a few places lead out with a huge image that you have to scroll down past to see *any* of the content. Why? But THE biggest issue is...

The search box makes me literally angry! The old one was right up top, easy to navigate into and out of, and gave decent results. Very helpful in finding some obscure setting, and fast for finding anything because of how it (on the fly) limited the menu to results only. But the new one is waaaaaaaay over to the right side - does anyone use a large high res monitor on the dev team? So I mouse over, type, click, and... UGH! Not what I wanted, because the search results are absolutely ridiculous! And then, unlike the old search, the rest of the results are gone. So now we can start over...

1- Fix the search results to be relevant, not some random-looking result. (Have you tried it?!)
2- Move it back to the left, and make the results stick around (the way it was worked fine).
3- Fix the left pane so it is distinct. The clues about current location, sibling items, and parent items are really inadequate. And change the "shades of black" to something that works.

I've love a beta program.

Hello everyone! There has been a lot of good feedback about newer styles (Glass) and themes (Jupiter) lacking icons. While there are certainly advantages to both types of interfaces, a large amount of the feedback we received was how much you missed the icons.

We've created case PH-16337 internally to work on adding icons to the Jupiter theme. I don't have a mockup I can share at this time, but the current plan is to have icons next to each text field as in the Paper Lantern theme.

I'll be sure to update this thread as I get more information.
I had an urgent issue with an account yesterday it took FOREVER to find what I needed in this stupid new left side NAVbar. Why couldn't you have at least alphabetized it??????

Also, did the cPanel developers write the software for this forum? How is it possible that you cannot cancel a reply? You have to refresh the page..... So Sad.

The order of items in the left sidebar is the same as it always has been, as far as I can recall.
But they were easier to see and differentiate when they were in the main body (right) area, horizontally aligned, and had icons.

Hello, cPRex,

My Web host uses--
cPanel Version:
106.0.4
Theme:
Jupiter

I'm writing because of a design that continues to cause me frustration since it appeared on my Webhost on May 25, 2022--
Please remove the current cPanel “Main Menu” (the fixed, black column on the left—please see screenshot) and move the three links--cPanel (Home), Tools, WordPress Manager] and place them in the heading to the left of the search field.

It would be so nice to have a full-width page for the individual tool pages (like Track Delivery).

Thank you for your consideration,

McFirm
