Hello,

I have a strange problem - error!

I have 1 server with DNS Cluster enable and 2 other vpses dnsonly server to write-only configuration.

In my main server I have for example the domain mydomain.com!

I use for my main server the hostname main.mydomain.com

I have dns records as:

dns1.mydomain.com
dns2.mydomain.com

for my dnsonly cpanel vpses.

Now when I see the logs on those vpses I see the same error on dovecot:

Code:
**Unmatched Entries**
dovecot: auth: Error: Cpanel::MailAuth: Failed to lookup domain owner of mydomain.com: 1 Time(s)
I see this error every day!

Can please advise how can I solve that strange error??

I think my dns from main server for domain mydomain.com all set well!

Any help is highly appreciated!

Hello,

Do you see this error message in /var/log/maillog on the DNS-Only systems, or do you see it on the cPanel hosting server? Could you also let us know which versions of cPanel are installed on each system?

Thank you.

Hello @cPanelMichael !

I notice these error messages from logwatch > Dovecot and as I search these errors comes from /var/log/maillog

Code:
cat /var/log/maillog | grep Cpanel::MailAuth:

dns2 dovecot: auth: Error: Cpanel::MailAuth: Failed to lookup domain owner of mydomain.com
dns2 dovecot: auth: Error: Cpanel::MailAuth: Failed to lookup domain owner of mydomain.com
I see these on DNS-Only systems! In my cPanel hosting server I don't see them. Also I have one other cPanel hosting server that have the same domain as hostname and I see it also there!

In my main hosting cPanel server (where the domain exist) all are ok!

In my other three vpses that I use the domain as:

dns1.mydomain.com
dns2.mydomain.com
otherhosting.mydomain.com

I see the specific error about the domain owner fail....

The cPanel version of main system (without problem where the domain is) : CENTOS 6.9 x86_64 / cPanel & WHM 64.0 (build 22)

DNS-Only cPanel vpses both are: CENTOS 7.3 x86_64 / cPanel & WHM 64.0 (build 22)

My other hosting cPanel that also have the same problem: CENTOS 6.9 x86_64 / cPanel & WHM 62.0.24

Thank you!
