I have set up a WordPress installation on a Compute Engine instance on Google Cloud. Trouble is, none of the emails from the Contact form are being delivered. The instance is running WHM and cPanel (latest versions).

Having a look around the www, it seems Exim is the way to go but I have no idea if it is configured properly or how to go about that

I am a developer, not a systems engineer, so struggling here! Where would I find a complete explanation of how to get this going?

Please assume I'm a total idiot with respect to this.

Which I am.

I have also discovered that port 25 is blocked by default on Compute Engine, and trying to work out how to overcome that is also a struggle!

Thank you for that

is Exim likely to be configured correctly out of the box? It is difficult to know if it is running. Where might I find logs should it not be working?

I am going to contact Google and ask them how to unblock that port: they mention it can be done.
