Filter in conjunction with autoresponder.

Hi

I have an autoresponder that automatically sends a confirmation to all email senders. But I need to filter 2 types of senders.

Type 1: People who I want to discard their email (So their email is deleted directly without my notice), and I don't want autoresponder to send them the confirmation.

Type 2: People who I want to get their email in my inbox, but also want to stop autoresponder from sending the confirmation.

How is it possible to set these two filters? (Especially Type 2)

Hello,

There are no native features that allow you to whitelist a specific address from the automatic response, however feel free to vote and add feedback to the following feature request:

Ability to whitelist addresses that the autoresponder should never reply to

In the meantime, you could setup a global email filter in the account that redirects all email from one email address, to a secondary email address, except for ones you prefer to exclude from the autorepsonder. Then, setup the autoresponder for that second email address.

Thank you.

What happens to autoresponder when I use global filters with it's actions?
  • Discard Message
  • Redirect to email
  • Fail with message
  • Stop Processing Rules
  • Deliver to folder
  • Pipe to a program
I know if use "Discard Message" nothing happens and autoresponder does not respond either.
What about other actions?

Hello,

You'd want to setup the filter so that only messages you want to receive the automatic response are directed to the "Redirect to email" action. For example, let's say you want to filter which emails sent to "user1@domain" receive an automatic response. You'd setup the autoresponder for "user2@domain" and then setup a filter for "user1@domain" that only redirects certain messages (based on your preferences) to "user2@domain". The following document explains what each filter action does:

How to Configure Mail Filters - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation

Thank you.

I have a global filter with "Deliver To folder" and an autoresponder message (for emails arriving at noreply@mydomain) to let the sender know that this address is not monitored. The autorepsonder works on its own but when I add the aforementioned filter to move those emails to a special fodler that is not monitored, the autoresponder stops working. Why does "deliver to folder" disable an autoresponder? This seems like a bug. I have goolged this and it seems that all your filters disable the autoresponders ... something that has been commented on many times and for years but this bug still persists. How can I fix this? I do not want to add any redirect as I have a limited number of email addresses and do not want to waste another address on this (as I already use "noreply@mydomain" for this purpose).

Nope. Nothing like that. Everyone who writes to "noreply@mydomain" should get a message stating that the address is not monitored. I do not want to have a fail message though as there may be some legitimate dmarc messages arriving there (which I'd like to keep just in case). So just a normal autorepsonse while the actual message gets stored in a certain folder.
