Hello,

Those files exist by design as part of the certificate validation process. There's a thread here that explains how the AutoSSL ordering and validation process works:

cPanel & WHM’s AutoSSL/SSL ordering process

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

Was there ever a solution for this? I'm having the same issue and I figured AutoSSL would run cleanup after it's done with the validation files. I could write a small script to clean up the file system, but that seems a little absurd.

Thanks!

Could you verify which version of cPanel is installed on this system? The following case was included with cPanel version 60.0.26 to address this issue:

Fixed case CPANEL-9887: Remove DCV file when cPanel’s AutoSSL fails on certificate order.

Thank you.

Hi Michael,

Alright, I see that it was fixed. I was just taking stock of subdomains we have under an account and saw a ton of them, but didn't realize that the last file was on Dec 20. So they're probably being cleaned up now. We're running 60.0.34. Thanks for giving me the heads up.
