Hi!

My problem is that gmail gives the following error message to the e-mail sender when sent to an address hosted on cPanel which is forwarded (with forwarder) to a gmail address:

****@gmail.com
(ultimately generated from ***@*******.tld)
host gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com [142.250.102.26]
SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
550-5.7.1 [IP of cPanel host] Messages missing a valid messageId header are not
550 5.7.1 accepted. w4-20020a05640234c400b0043a9bb390d3si6561669edc.278 - gsmtp

I have read the threads regarding the same issue:

I have tried adding the "submission/sender_retain" stuff to probably the right place, but no change.

What can I be missing and why is this even needed?

Please help me!

Thanks,
Daniel

Hey there! If you've investigated four similar threads and couldn't find a solution, this would likely be better handled through a ticket to our support team so we can investigate this directly on your system. Can you create that ticket and then post the number here so I can follow along?

We had a similar issue (with one of the MailMan lists) but exim_mainlog showed messages originating from ::1 instead of 127.0.0.1 -- so we added the following entry to the custom_begin_mail_pre Exim ACL:

accept hosts = :

warn hosts = ::1
control = submission/sender_retain

It seems to have worked, and ALSO reduced or eliminated Yahoo/AOL error "554 5.7.9 Message not accepted for policy reasons. See https://postmaster.yahooinc.com/error-codes"
