Installing Mariadb in AlmaLinux 8 Server

Hi,

This document provides the supported MySQL and MariaDB versions for each operating system that cPanel & WHM supports.

As per this, I can see a number of Mariadb versions are supported in AlmaLinux 8 server, however the servers get installed with MySQL 8.0 with no option to change the database server later.

Can someone please advise how I can mae Maridb as the database server in AlmaLinux 8 server.

Have faced the same issue in past.
There is no way to install mariadb after installation.

You need to run this command before cpanel installation.

mkdir -p /root/cpanel_profile && echo "mysql-version=10.5" > /root/cpanel_profile/cpanel.config

After this, you can run cpanel installation command.
