SMTP Port 465 works for Outlook but not iPhone. Also Outlook wont connect using TLS.

When I configure mail on an iPhone it defaults to SMTP Port 587. This works. I go back in and change the SMTP Port to 465 but it will just spin and spin trying to verify the settings but never resolves. I am able to configure a new mailbox in Outlook using SMTP Port 465 just fine. Although Outlook wont connect using TLS only SSL. Any ideas? Thank you.

Exim is listening on ports 25,465 and 587, if iPhone mail works with 587 why do you want to change it?

It's due to an Outlook issue using an older TLS version than the cPanel default TLS version.

You can allow older TLS versions here:

WHM --> Service Configuration --> Mailserver Configuration --> SSL Minimum Protocol

Setting it to TLSv1 should allow you to connect with Outlook, but using older TLS versions is not optimal.

I don't necessarily need to change it, but the instructions provided by C-Panel in Webmail and on their web site says to use 465. Our customers/users who log into Webmail or see the C-Panel instructions online will see 465 as the setting and it may not work if they have an iPhone. I haven't tested this with a Android yet.

By default, MacOS servers don't use 465, so that is why you're seeing it go to 587 by default. You may need to disable the SSL option in order for 587 to work properly in the Apple system.
My iPhone does send using SSL configured with 587. So, I think we are good there. I just wanted to verify that there wasn't some sort of issue I was running into with port 465 not working. We will just need to make sure to let any of our users with iPhone/Mac's know to use port 587 instead of 465. Just want our rollout to go as smooth as possible. :) Thank you for the info!
