hi thanks for the help (hopefully)

a few days ago I set up a daily backup on one domain on the server but forgot how I did it. whether by cPanel or WHM I have had a look on both sides and can't see anything set for it but I am still getting daily emails saying a full website backup has been generated and is stored in /home, well ok that sounds good.. problem is the site is HUGE and after 15 days I get an email saying disk almost full so have to delete some of the backups...

what I want to know is.. is there a way to stop the backups once and for all I am pulling my hair out googling for hints and all I get is the WHM backup option which is turned off on my server

if I go to my cpanel account for the specific website in question click backup there is the list of all the backups also so Cpanel is recognizing them absolutely fine.
The backups are in the .tar.gz format

Hey there! Do you happen to have a copy of the notification you're receiving? In general, cPanel doesn't store backups in /home, so I'm wondering if there is a custom configuration that was enabled that is generating these backups.

If I could see the text of the email notification I might be able to get you some better details.

You can access a list of locally-stored backups via cPanel's "Backup" interface:
cPanel > Backup > Download a Full Account Backup

You can access a list of locally-stored backups via cPanel's "Backup" interface:
cPanel > Backup > Download a Full Account Backup (MYURL:2083/?goto_app=Backups_Home)

The backup file is named "backup-2.21.2022_10-02-29_needaserver.tar.gz"
The server saved the backup file in the "/home/MYSITE/" directory.
this is the top part of the email I have obviously redacted the website name and folder name but you get the idea hopefully from this... I have tried to login via that accounts Cpanel and it showed me nothing except

Backup is not enabled. If you are trying to restore a crashed system, please set the backup to "Restore Only"

so was no help at all.

Thanks for the additional details. It seems like there is a user-level backup that has been automated, which isn't something I'm used to seeing on the system. That isn't something I would expect to happen at the WHM-level though, based on the output of the email you sent.

Would it be possible to submit a ticket to our team so we can examine the machine directly and see if we can find more details?

I am facing the same problem - for about 3 weeks now I am getting daily e-mails like this:

[mydomain.com] A full backup of the account “myaccount” with the primary domain “mydomain.com” has completed.
A full backup has completed and is available for download.

You can access a list of locally-stored backups via cPanel’s “Backup” interface:
cPanel > Backup > Download a Full Account Backup (https://mydomain.com:2083/?goto_app=Backups_Home)

It happens on one account only and I believe that what triggered it was Full Account Download done one day.
I checked cron jobs but can't find anything pointing to this backup job.

How did you solve numpty9989's problem?

@epesi - I don't see that the original problem was solved as there wasn't a ticket submitted or a resolution posted.

You already mentioned the user doesn't have any crons configured, but are there are root-level crons that are backing up that account? Do you have root access to the machine or just access to the cPanel user?
