Hello - when cpanel updates email me a "System Integrity checking detected a modified system file" email, I usually go into the /var/cpanel/updatelogs/ directory and verify if a new version of the file has been updated or downloaded. Always I see that this was due to an upgrade. However, today I noticed the following:

/sbin/ldconfig: FAILED
/sbin/sln: FAILED

and when I checked the updatelogs directory with grep I see that neither of those files are listed as having been updated, and in fact, grep'ing all the update logs for those two files back to dec. 25, 2020 shows no such file in any of the update logs.

So I guess the questions is why am I receiving this notice of a file comparison failure when the logs show no update to these files?

Hey Jeff,

Both files belong to glibc which was updated last night as part of upcp. You could check the the update log and search for glibc along with /var/log/yum.log which should tell you which packages were updated and when. I'm 100% sure this is legit and you shouldn't worry about it.

Thanks!
