Hi There

Does anyone know how to set up a path for temporary storage of files in Cpanel?

I have an update to install but it says I can't install the update until I have a path configured for temporary storage of files.

Hey there! What type of update is giving that warning, and where does the "click here" link take you? I'm not familiar with that specific warning message, so a bit more context would help us provide you with better details.

Hi
It's a WHMCS update and the link takes you to the page attached, where you have to put in the temporary path

Hi @HighPriest ,

As @cPRex said, WHMCS is a third party software package which is NOT produced/supported by cPanel Inc (WHMCS just tightly integrates with the WHM/cPanel software) and it's best to use their support systems for help with their software. However, their documentation on Automatic updates says:

Setting a Temporary Update Path
The temporary path allows you to stage files during an update. For security reasons, ensure that this directory is outside of the public document root, like the attachments, downloads, and templates_c directories.

  • The path must be an absolute path (for example, /home/username/tmp instead of ~/tmp).
  • The path must be writable by the user that is running PHP.
So /home/username/tmp or /home/username/staging would be best.
