Terminated accounts being removed from rsyc backup history?

I have remote backups working with rsync from a linux hosted WHM account. These seem to work great. I have a 1 day x 7 days, 1 week x 3 weeks, 1 month x 3 months retention scheme.

Recently I had a client cancel an account, it was suspended then terminated from WHM a month later, 2 weeks after termination they are asking for a backup copy of all data.

The account does not exist in my back up history. Even though I would have thought that It should have existed in at least 2 of my monthly backups, based on just the suspension time, or additionally couple of weeklies based on Termination.

So - does terminating an account remove all backup history on the remote server as part of the backup pruning (certainly seems so)? If so - can this be stopped so they 'age out'.

I suspect the check box for Back up Suspended Accounts was left unchecked in WHM Home »Backup »Backup Configuration due to which that account was not backed up the day it was suspended. This is one of the possibilities.

I have checked and this is not the case. That box is certainly ticked.

I suspect that once an account is removed (terminated) that the backup files are removed and pruned away historically in the next backup sync. Which is not ideal.

I would not expect a terminated account to get pruned from the backups. If you perform a monthly backup, then terminate an account, I'd expect that to be there in the monthly backups until those are rotated out as new backups are created.

If you're seeing something different happening, could you create a ticket with our team so we can check that out?
