terminated cpanel still working and using another site files and database

Hi,
I deleted/terminated a cpanel account for example test.com

now if i go to test.com it shows the exact website as another site example.com on the server and also uses the other sites database after getting deleted

why is this happening?

is this a secutity issue?

Hey there! Most likely the DNS for test.com is still pointed to the server, and Apache is serving the best-match vhost it can to try and fulfill that request to the browser.

yes i know i can change the dns for itbut what if anyone else points to to my server and now their domain also shows my website?

That's exactly how the internet works. What you'll want to do to workaround that is to setup a default vhost that gets displayed when there is an unroutable request. We have two articles that will help you do that work:

This is interesting. Would it not make sense to tie the default vhost to the hostname, by default, thus preventing this from happening in the first place?

For many users that is exactly what they do. However, clients that resell hosting plans often try and obscure the main hostname, so we prefer not to assume any default and let the end-users configure this.
