hello, I have two fairly novice questions on the cpanel DNS zone editor

1/ how does it relate to the DNS records with my DNS host ?

2/ why does it only have the option to create A, MX & CNAME records ? the documentation clearly states that the whole range of zones but I only have these three. Is something broken with my configuration maybe ?

hope somebody can help.

Thanks :)

A better reading of the documentation for the Zone editor answers question 2 !

To access all available zone record types and records that the system automatically generated, your systems administrator must enable the following features in WHM's Feature Managerinterface (WHM >> Home >> Packages >> Feature Manager):

  • Zone Editor (A, CNAME)
  • Zone Editor (AAAA, CAA, SRV, TXT)

  • Like

Without knowing if you're hosting DNS locally or not I wouldn't have a way to determine that. Specifically, if you've pointed the nameservers of your domain to those of the server, then those records directly correlated to the DNS of the domain, changes there will affect where the domain is pointed.
If the site is directed to the server with an A record, modifications made in the zone editor UI will not be effective though you are not able to remove the zone file.
