SOLVED Using spamassassin to scan mail and then forward to external mailserver

Just a short question for which I have not been able to find a concrete answer:

Is it possible to route email through spamassassin and then forward it to an external mailserver, like a dedicated spamfilter appliance does ?

My guess is 'no', but you never know....

Hey there! I'm not aware of a way to do this in cPanel with our tools, no. I'm sure it's possible there are third-party options that could do it, but that would need to be installed and configured outside of cPanel.

Would a standard email forwarder not be sufficient to handle this?

3rd party tools outside of cPanel would not be our preferred choice.

We are looking into alternatives to our current dedicated spamfilter solution. One of the suggestions was to see if it is possible to route incoming mail for a specifc domain through SpamAssassin and then dispatch it to the destination mail server.

As far as I know would using a standard forwarder mean that we need to create a forwarder for each and every recipient mailadress. Not very efficient with destination mailservers that contain 100s of mailboxes.

A domain forwarder would only work if we'd forward the email to a different domain, right?
Then we would have to configure an additional domain on the destination server. Technically definitely possible, something to take in consideration.

Going back to the email forwarders, I am thinking in a different direction. Does cPanel/WHM support LDAP?
If so, is it possible to use LDAP to import the users from the destination server/network and automatically create a forwarder for each email address?

The only LDAP support we have is the PHP module, which can be installed through EasyApache. cPanel itself doesn't have any integration with the LDAP tools for users.
