Hi there

Normally, kernel updates would be excluded in yum.conf file after upcp after touch /var/cpanel/checkyum-keepkernel command, but in 102 version there is no change in /etc/yum.conf file after these operations.

Was this feature removed in version 102?

Hey there! As far as I'm seeing, this has never been an officially-supported cPanel file. I searched our documentation, and spoke with the developers, and no one was familiar with that file path. A Google search also only brings up this thread.

So I don't have a great answer to share as to why this may have worked previously.

Update - one of our developers did mention there was an RPM change mentioning this from 2014. It's something that is intentionally not documented as we don't intend for this to be a supported touchfile, and the Tweak Settings option is the best way to reliably ensure this behavior works.

So.....could potentially work still, but not something that should be relied upon.
