MySQL or MariaDB Upgrade - Version 78 Documentation - cPanel Documentation sez:

If the buildapache application uses the MySQL libraries and headers on the server itself, and you change the MySQL version, Apache cannot function correctly.

What is the buildapache application? By 'MySQL libraries and headers on the server itself' do they mean building Apache so that it uses MySQL internally? Would httpd be linked to libmysql.so if this were the case?

What is the buildapache application?

It's a reference to an application included with easyapache at one point, this is unclear verbiage though and I've opened a documentation case to have this updated.

In this case they're talking about manually modifying and setting the version as opposed to using the builtin flag which is done by cPanel/WHM automatically.
