What's the proper way to stay with Paper Lantern for as long as possible?

Due to my user base specific needs, I need to stay with Paper Lantern for as long as it's technically possible, while still being a supported system. But how?

I know there's information scattered across different threads, but nothing definitive. For reference:

Back in August of 2021, we announced the deprecation of Paper Lantern. Today we’re updating the schedule for the final stage: its removal.

Right now I'm on 104 STABLE. I was hoping to switch to a LTS branch but I'm not sure how to do that. LTS is now on 102, so I can't choose it.

What are my options now for LTS with Paper Lantern? If none, how long till the STABLE branch is forced to lose Paper Lantern?

Hey there! As long as you stay on version 106 or earlier, you'll keep Paper Lantern. In 108 we will forcibly remove Paper Lantern from the system.

Would you really want to do that? Unless 106 is going to become the next LTS, won't it loose support pretty quickly?

Nope, you really wouldn't want to do that. 110 will likely be the next LTS, but Paper Lantern will already be removed by then.

I'm not saying it's a *good* option, but if he really wants to keep Paper Lantern around, staying on 106 at this point is likely his best plan since he's already past version 102.

Thanks for the info. As I suspected, I missed my window to go LTS with Paper Lantern. I'm just hoping that mostly all lingering problems will be solved by the time we get forced to switch. Also, it will take a long time to redo all our support documents. Who knows, maybe the colorful icons can return as an option...

Do you have an estimated date for when v110 will become the next LTS version?

@random - as you may have seen me say in other places, I never give out ETAs as they just lead to disappointment.

As a complete guess, I would expect a 108 Release candidate sooner than later, and then 110 will likely quickly follow. I doubt it would be later than the spring.
