In relation to my Backup question here: New Thread - How to restore email backup without overwriting more recent emails?
We're using maildir storage mechanism:
1) Is emails sitting in the INBOX folder found in the /cur folder of the email address?
e.g
/home/account/mail/domain/emailaddress/cur
2) Can new files be added to this folder without breaking the email mechanism (ie files can be added uploaded here via SFTP and the email client will not throw a wobbly)?
ie adding new (valid) email files to this folder will they simply appear as new emails and everything keeps working ?
3) Do we need to manually update/edit any of the Dovecot files in the parent directory ; /home/account/mail/domain/emailaddress ?
Thanks.
