WHM backup feature

I was wondering, is using the WHM backup feature to make backups to a separate hard drive reliable?

Let's so for example you had a server with 2 hard drives, the second having one large /backup partition. Now let's say you have daily backups turned on, and the first hard drive suddenly explodes into a shower of particles... Will you be able to install a new hard drive quickly and restore from the /backup partition?

All accounts are backed up and so are mysql and everything else. The only thing is if a hard drive fails and you lose all accounts. You will have to untar them all individually. Theres not like a quick server restore feature.

Perhaps it is time to put in a feature request? ;)
