HI folks!

so I'm looking to migrate my WHM to another hosting company but i have some concerns and I'm not sure what's the best way to go about this

My current scenario
1) I have A PAID WHM license with 5 Cpanel accounts (let's call this WHM-1)
2) I have another WHM under trial that has 1 Cpanel account under it (let's call this WHM-2) this one has passed its trial phase though.

What I'm trying to achieve
I would like to migrate all (6 Cpanel accounts) under a single WHM account(WHM-1) to another hosting company

Questions
1)SO when migrating to a new hosting do i Need a NEW WHM license or can i use my existinG WHM license (WHM-1) ?
2) Can I migrate the CPANEL in (WHM-2) which has passed the 15 day trial phase without paying for a license?
3)Is there a step by step tutorial for this or maybe the best place i could hire someone for this exact job?
4) How fast can this be done with minimal down time?(so i know how much roughly to pay if i hire someone)

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

There are several ways doing this, but I'd probably recommend:

1) Install new WHM-3 at the new hosting company with a new (trial) license
2) Migrate WHM-1 to WHM-3
3) Change license from WHM-1 to WHM-2
4) Migrate WHM-2 to WHM-3
5) Cancel license on WHM-2 (or move it to WHM-3 in case you used a trial license in step 1)

Transfering is relatively straight forward - also with regards to minimal down time - but it depends how your server and DNS setup is.

Hiring someone to do the job is definetely an option too. We are several that are ready to help:

1 - Both servers do need a license. Either one can be a trial, but they both need some type of license.
2 - Nope. The WHM interface wouldn't be active, so you wouldn't be able to use the Transfer Tool
3 - There sure is! How to Move All cPanel Accounts from One Server to Another | cPanel & WHM Documentation
4 - That's the question everyone wants to know, and it's just not possible to answer. It really depends on the speed between the servers, and how well you plan the DNS changes to avoid long propagation times for the IP changes.

You wouldn't be able to transfer the license like that, as it would get locked due to suspicious activity. It would be best to use a trial license on one machine, finalize the migration work, and then move the license the new IP.

A few more questions.

1) After I complete the CPanel accounts migration process, does the username and password remain the same? I'm pretty sure they are the same but just wanted to make sure. Is there anything else I should do after the migration process?

2)I'm going to be assigning a dedicated IP address to some of the new Cpanel accounts. I'm guessing to access each of these CPanel accounts login I will use the new Dedicated IP address and not the Ip address on whm right?

As always thanks!
