WHM Version 102.08 kernel update notifications

Just updated all of my servers to WHM Version 102.08

I want want to make sure that I do not miss any important notices.

In previous WHM versions before Version 102.08, on all "pages" of the WHM,
if and when needed, in big letters at the top of the screen, it used to say:

You must reboot the server to apply system updates
or
You must reboot the server to apply kernel updates

Where will it say that in on the "pages" in WHM Version 102.08?

Hey there! There will still be a similar notification if that reboot is necessary on your system.

It's been quite some time since I've seen any of these notices prompting a reboot (since the roll out of the new WHM design). How can I tell if my kernel is up to date? Thanks!

If you're not getting the email notifications it's likely there just isn't anything to do. You can always manually check the WHM interface by clicking the icon in the top right of the screen. I've attached a screenshot showing this:

Thank you, @cPRex. Let me clarify. What I meant was, I haven't seen any notifications in WHM since the interface update. In the previous version, there would be a yellow button (if memory serves) notifying of a need to update the kernel. I've seen no similar notifications since the interface update, nor do I have any notifications where you indicated.

So, is there a way for me to check to see if I actually have the current kernel update?

If you're not seeing anything in that area, you're machine is likely all set. The only other work you could do would be to manually check the kernel and compare that with the CentOS or AlmaLinux changelogs.

You would run "uname -r" to see what you are currently running.

Thank you! Well, I have determined I am running 3.10.0-1160.41.1.vz7.183.5 (whatever that means), but a web search has not revealed a CentOS changelog. Can you advise?

That's a VZ kernel, so you likely wouldn't be able to update it anyway, even if you wanted to. You'd need to reach out to your hosting provider or datacenter to have them make any changes.

But I used to get the notification in WHM telling me to reboot the server, which I would do. All on a VPS. I would reboot, and the notice would disappear. It would say something like cpanel updates would not take effect unless I rebooted. I don’t recall exactly what it said.

Are you saying that something has changed in the last few months and this will no longer be the case? Thanks.

No, nothing has changed. If you're not getting an update, there just isn't anything to udpate.
