Why doesn\'t the -rand switch work int the gencrt script?

I tried to modiy the openssl genrsa lines in the gencrt and gencrt2 scripts, which are located in the /scripts directory.
when I add the -rand switch with /dev/random:/dev/null nothing happens.
Has anyone exerienced this problem?
I\'m running RedtHat 7.1
