I have seen a lot of posts about this, but many are from 2008. I am wondering if in 2010 things have changed specifically using a single elastic ip can cpanel manage a server with several domains (shared hosting) ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The main issue with the elastic IP is that it incorporates NAT, and cPanel/WHM is not NAT-aware at this time, potentially causing some technical issues. However, many folks do use NAT with cPanel/WHM anyway despite this lack of official support.

Much more than lack of "official support" ....

It cannot be stressed enough that NAT is not recommended in itself as it comes with some very major management headaches and forces a need from administrators a very strong grasp and understanding of the entire system and all underlying server components.
