@PeteS - the latest documentation for WordPress Toolkit can be found here:

There is no longer a comparison between the two versions, as "Deluxe" essentially no longer exists since it's available for free.
Thank you for the link.

From that docs page: "The system automatically installs the WordPress Toolkit plugin in cPanel & WHM versions 102 and later." Installs the package, but doesn't add it to WHM, per what I see on the server I looked at. This is GOOD., but seeing the issues from a couple days ago here: Completely Uninstall Wordpress Toolkit including users about it having a CRON to reinstall it daily... I can cautious about enabling it just yet, even for a test-run.

Question: I can't see whether is now has automated backup in it yet. And there's no way I'll enable to test (after the last fiasco), so can you tell me whether that is not possible?

Biggest concern: I'd like a truthful answer from cPanel that won't change about this... Will cPanel commit not NOT reverting back to a paid Deluxe version in the future?! This is a fair yes or no question, because of how rapidly and aggressively it was initially pushed out, and all the problems it caused for us, and that now it is being auto installed for free.

I am considering taking another look at it, but I can promise you this: If I do switch to it now that Deluxe is free, and then it again becomes paid for the features that are now free, there will be no end to grief I'll rain down on cPAnel for a bait-and-switch tactic. I would probably leave cPanel entirely over it. I think our wariness is understandable on this one...

No offense to you @cPRex, you're always been a great resource, but *yeah, some of us are still sore about how it originally played out*

@PeteS - currently there is no automated backup available.

While "ever" is a long time, we don't currently have plans to start charging for the Deluxe features again.

As far as the standard vs Deluxe package, some Partners have chosen to make that a separate feature as part of their hosting plan. However, with a license purchased directly from cPanel, all the features are included. If you got a license from a Partner and you're missing the Deluxe features, that is because they have specifically turned that off on their end.

Thank you again. I think I will spin up a test VPS rather than enable the plugin on a production server, because if I do that on the latter it will automatically enroll all WP installations, correct? (If yes, can I suggest a simple option to allow a confirmation screen before enrolling WP sites that would allow us to uncheck certain ones, and then add the touch file to prevent future auto-enrollment? For bonus points, have it relist the site on future scans in the same screen with an option to add the checkmark back and override the previous lockout.)

Why can't we use WordPress Manager anymore?

I don't need or want WordPress Toolkit.

I don't need or want Installatron

I don't need or wantsoftaculous

I was quite happy with WordPress Manager

It is / was simple, fast and effective. Why deprecate it in favour of a less desirable product?

Hi @cPRex

OK - I confess the following.... I installed WordPress Toolkit when it was first released (actually, I seem to recall it was foisted upon us in an WHM update) and was shocked and horrified at the changes it had made to over 100 sites..... it took the best part of a day to clean up all the mess it had made in the config files...... Then I removed it from all our servers.... I personally much preferred the 'lightweight and simple' previous plugin.

HOWEVER, I have give the WT another go and it seems to have come a long way since - though I am still annoyed at some of the default settings that come out of the box with invasive changes to existing sites (updates and notifications that all need to be amended).

That said, I can see the benefits of some of the tools..... so I will give it another go....
